adios amigos!

Good news from the orthopedist ... I fell so hard on my knee that I have a severe bruise on my bone. The cure? Anti-inflammatories and time. So while my knee is still very sore/stiff, I am happy to know I'm on the road to recovery, minus surgery!

I'm off to Puerto Vallarta tomorrow morning ... I think my knee will like it there.

have yourself a merry little christmas

Christmas was a complete and total blur. This year was a first of manys ... my first Christmas in Los Angeles, my first Christmas at Disneyland, and my first Christmas ever without my mom. The latter was tough, but i guess it had to happen sooner or later and the good news is we all emerged unscathed.

My sisters flew down on December 23 and after a few last-minute shopping stops, we headed to Hollywood to see Wicked at the historic Pantages Theatre. I think my sisters enjoyed themselves ... if you haven't seen Wicked, go see it before it leaves LA next month.

The show started at 6:30pm so we decided to eat dinner afterwards. Well, when we got out at 9:30pm it was a little cold/windy and because it was Sunday, pretty deserted. I told everyone I knew the Pig & Whistle was within walking distance, but that my idea of walking distance may not be everyone's (please note: I think it is completely reasonable to walk from Union Square to Fisherman's Wharf). Fast forward nine blocks later and Molly is virtually limping in her heels and my dad is starting to have a meltdown. We made it to the restaurant (which was further than I remembered) and had a good time, but then cabbed it back to the Pantages parking lot.

The next morning, we slept in a bit ... well, Molly and I attempted to, but apparently Dad and Lindsay needed to have an extensive disussion about how they put their creamer in their coffee AT THE TOP OF THEIR LUNGS!!! Anyway, after we all showered and dropped my car off at Costco, we headed to Old Town Pasadena to do some shopping and have lunch. It was a gorgeous day outside and not too crowded. Oh, and how could I forgot, we drove Molly by Pee-Wee's house!!! That evening, while waiting for dinner, I decided to entertain my sisters by doing a series of interpretive dances to my Disney music cd. Needless to say ... mission accomplished.

Please note my awesome vest (thank you Lester!) that my sisters teased me about because I literally would not take it off until I fell asleep that night. The next morning, we woke up early and headed for Disneyland. In college, I had a roommate who worked at Disneyland and she told me the best day to go was Christmas because the park was virtually empty. Well, apparently, she told a bunch of people and now ... it's crowded! With my extensive Fast Pass knowledge however, we were able to ride most of the rides ... including the Tower of Terror (Linday is a big wienie so this was quite the accomplishment for her).

Sadly though, the fireworks were cancelled due to the Santa Ana winds, the only real downer that day. The next day we slept in, had brunch, opened presents and then decided to try the Downtown on Ice ice skating rink. That was a mistake. The rink is VERY small and VERY full of people. Instead we decided to get in touch with our Mexican side with a trip to Olvera Street. We shopped, at churros, and drank margaritas. Very cultural.

My sisters spent the next two nights with me in Redondo. We played Wii, visited with Baby Jack (and his parents), shopped, drank Coffee Bean ... oh, and Lindsay almost died due to an allergic reaction until I single-handedly saved her with a midnight trip to the Torrance Walgreen. What an awesome big sister she has.

So it's now January and Christmas has once again come and gone. I had a nice time, even it was hectic. Spending that much time with my sisters was fun and I miss them already. Even though we argue and drive each other crazy, they are my sisters and my two best friends in the world.
